Irving is a busy metropolis situated in the Irving-Dallas-Plano division of the Fort Worth-Arlington-Dallas metropolitan area. As of 2010, the cities population is projected to be 216,290. The city of Irving was established by J.O. Schulze and Otis Brown in 1902 around 50 years after the area was inhabited during the early part of 1850's. On April 14, 1914 the city of Irving was officially incorporated.

The two original founders of the city were both employed by the Rock Island, Gulf and Chicago Railway. After arriving in the area in order to survey a railroad route between Dallas and Fort Worth in 1902, they bought out the 80 acres which the British Family owned and began to build the city. On December 19, 1903 the very first town lots were bought at a public auction. During 1904, the post office from Kit was relocated to Irving.
