Lift Truck Parts in More Detail
A forklift is constructed from numerous parts. The major parts that make up a forklift truck are the frame of the truck, the engine parts, the overhead guard, the tilt cylinders and the wheels. What's more, a forklift has a range of attachments. All the parts which make up a lift truck are all essential because they work together to make the operation of the equipment possible. The subsequent paragraphs describe several of the lift truck components in detail.
The Overhead Guard - The overhead guard is really the lift truck's metal roof, which sits atop the operator cab. It's job is to protect the operator while they are using the machinery. The overhead guard makes sure that nothing falling from above onto the truck would injure the driver or damage the controls inside the cab. The overhead guard is integral to the frame assembly on some models.
The Mast - the mast is a vertical assembly made of interlocking rails and mounted either to the front axle or the forklift frame. The mast provides lateral stability and enables the forks to move upwards and downwards. The interlocking rails may either have rollers or bushings as guides. There are two ways the mast can be operated: chain operated with motive power provided by a hydraulic motor or hydraulically by one or more hydraulic cylinders.
Forklift Carriage - The carriage is the part which the forks and other kinds of attachments are mounted to. Actually, the carriage is directly connected to the hydraulic cylinder and is attached by chains. To be able to allow the forks to be raised and lowered, the carriage can have either bushings or rollers to guide it in the interlocking mast rails.
Load Back Rest - While the carriage is lifted to full height, there is a back rest made of metal which prevents a load from falling backwards. The back rest is either bolted or welded on to the carriage.
Lift Truck Attachments - a range of attachments may be fixed to the front of the forklift truck. The most common kind of attachment is forks. Additionally, there are L-shaped members, rollers, rotators, roll clamps, pole handlers and and all that. These various kinds of attachments are helpful for transporting different kinds of loads.
